I am me. That’s all I can be in all my awkwardness. My blog seems to be my only sanctuary where random people point and laugh.

There are nine C-90 cassettes sitting on my bookshelf. There’s a book of “words” from 1994 next to them.

I’ll let them gather dust like everything else there. A time capsule. Bravery an creativity overpowered by fear and rejection.

I’m not feeling like the cat’s pyjamas tonight. Sorry ’bout that.

Here’s a story kind of geeky but true. Feel free to rip me apart because I’m feeling characteristically blue. Actually I’m just feeling a little confused.

It took a handful of messages on WhosHere – a proximity based social networking application available on the iPhone, a handful of Twitter direct messages and now I find myself thrown head first into a secondary web project that’s more about being “happy and content”.

Its all too confusing, this whole “happy” thing, this whole “focus and move forward” thing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s damn AWESOME but for crying out loud, I feel out of sorts.

Appetite is shot, attention span is actually longer than it usually is and I’m a lot more focussed than ever before.

It’s all a little too scary. What to do?

The all new Apple iPod Shuffle music player was released a couple of hours after this post was made. It it the first Apple iPod product (excluding the iPhone) that speaks. It’s a lot slimmer than its boxier predeccesor and has a major lack of one thing…BUTTONS!

What do I think of the new iPod Shuffle?

PROS

It’s slim and sexy looking

It speaks!

It would be great for blind users as it announces song titles

CONS

You can’t use your own earphones as all the buttons are located on the Apple earphones that come with the product

The Voiceover feature could become really annoying

It’s a little too expensive for something that relies on proprietary headphones

Would I buy the new iPod Shuffle? In short, no. If I can’t use my Audio Technica cans with the product, I wouldn’t touch it with a bargepole.

What do you think of the new iPod Shuffle? Do you think that Apple could’ve better invested their money into upgrading other products such as the iPhone?

I love my white 16Gb Apple iPhone as much as the next geekgirl or boy but there are so many things I would love to see thrown into the next version of it.

an improved camera (yes, the iPhone is a phone and not a digicam but an improved lens, even a flash, would be great for those of us who enjoy uploading photos to Flickr and Twitpic)

a radio (it’s all well and good chewing up bandwidth streaming tunes from last.fm or Pandora but an FM radio would also be a great addition to the iPhone)

being able to run background processes (yes, you can purchase a Netbook to do all that but being able to run a Twitter or messaging client in the background while browsing in Mobile Safari would be awesome)

improved battery life (3G phones are energy and resource hungry little devices but it would be grand if my iPhone could last for more than a day without needing to be recharged)

Are you a current 2G or 3G Apple iPhone user? What would you like to see added or removed from the new model of iPhone?

Since purchasing my Apple iPhone two weeks ago, I’ve become something of an Apps junkie. Little things that were a pest to get done at work and at play have now become a snap. Here’s a list of my Top Five most used iPhone Apps.

Twittelator Pro – I tweet a heck of a lot and out of all the iPhone Twitter clients, I would have to say that this is the creme de la creme. I can keep track of all my friends recent tweets and my replies. Twittelator also allows you to post images to Twitpic.

Australian Postcodes – this app has saved me many a wild goose chase around work trying to locate a tattered copy of the Australia Post Postcodes book. My line of work involves me entering addresses into a database and sometimes the ASP driven hunk of junk that is a “system” spits out the wrong postcode. Having all this information at my fingertips has stopped many grumbles and arguments as well.

Metro Melbourne Free – this is a simple Melbourne public transport app. Having used it quite a bit, it’s a lot more reliable than Melbourne train operator, Connex.

NetNewsWire – My morning commute into work consists of Tweeting and catching up on all my favourite RSS feeds. NetNewsWire has a very clean interface. You subscribe to all your favourite feeds via NewsGator Online and NetNewsWire syncs to that account. Quite a handy little app if you can’t be bothered messing around typing URLs into iPhone Safari.

Tumble – My tumbleblog compliments this weblog and this app has made posting random photos to my tumbleblog so easy. Best of all, it’s free!

There you have it, a small sample of what I use on my iPhone daily. Which apps do you use the most on your iPhone?
