Arse end of June or thereabouts. That was the last time I wrote some tripe in here and then went on my merry way into oblivion/abyss/the deep dark funk y’all know as the blogger blues. So much has happened in between then and now. It seemed like a good idea to kick things back into motion with a sweet looking WP theme, a little mindless babble and more of the same dull “raw to the floor” crap you’ve come to expect from this website.

What’s new, Pussycat? You probably won’t be reading all that much about my adventures at work. The reason being that things there are on the extreme “up” with a new boss, some trusted familiar faces returning and a big bag of positive vibes to make everything GOOD™ again.

I’ve rediscovered my long lost love of trance music and I want to thank the very delicious sounding Mr Dennis Ruyer for making my morning train ride to work an amazing one with his Dance Department podcast.

There isn’t much else to really report. I turned 32 a few weeks ago and that was the biggest non-event ever. I spent the day on my own. No going out for drinks or anything extravagant like that. I’ve turned into a bit of a nanna. A nanna that will be shaking it on the dancefloor to the sounds of Ferry Corsten come September 11. The Sensation White NYE party is also high on my to-attend list.

It’s great to be back. As always, please excuse the mess and other broken blog bits. Everything will be back to a half arsed state of normal in the next couple of days.

HELLO FRIENDFEED FOLLOWING TYPE PEOPLE!

  • Microsoft Windows 7 Release Candidate – I decided to take the plunge and install the latest Release Candidate version of Microsoft Windows 7 on my trusty dusty craptop after having read numerous writeups about it over at Lifehacker. Eyecandy wise, it gets the big thumbs up. Performance wise, it runs a lot smoother than Windows Vista. Multimedia wise, my USB TV Tuner dongle actually works straight out of the box without any pissfarting around with other software. Overall, Windows 7 is a HUGE improvement over Vista (which was an operating system debacle). It’s nice of Microsoft to allow the regular Joe or Joanne Geek to be able to test-drive the latest addition to the Windows family in the real world. It is, however, a bit of a shame that Microsoft did nothing more than slightly tart up what has always been a dog of an operating system, IMNSHO.
  • Hiatus – I’m taking some much needed time off from Twitter. With all that has happened over the last couple of weeks, a month off will no doubt be enough time to sit back on the sidelines and watch the world go by…one tweet at a time. To be honest, Twitter stopped being fun for me and if it’s no longer fun, I’ll just walk away. Perhaps I’ve just missed the point or something but hey, it’s only a social network, fer Pete’s sake. I’m not entirely sure if I’ll be attending the next @MTUB event. I have an uncanny fear that I’ll end up sitting on my own, in a corner for a while because I’m lousy at mingling and heck, I’m, well, you know…..@melbournegirl. I’ll be returning to Twitter some time in June. Feel free to follow me on Friendfeed or send an email my way. I don’t bite…
  • Everything else - In between the madness that is the beloved dayjob, I’ve been following Angus Kidman’s rather awesome Hand Luggage Only adventures. One piece of carry-on luggage and a smattering of Australian locations to be visited. Hardcore geek roadtrip to the max! In the coming days/weeks, melbournegirl.net will be going under the knife. The blogroll will be gutted, the theme will be chopped to bits and all the other rubbish will be archived. You have been warned!

On a final and very personal note, a big thanks has to go out to a couple of very special people out there (who will remain anonymous out of respect) who have helped me through the last few days. Here’s to yet another HUGE eff-off weekend of actually living that thing called LIFE!

It was a hell of a difficult month. Four days into February and things are looking peachy keen. No interview date set as yet for dreamjob 2.0. The truth is, I’m not even bothered about it anymore. I would love to become a technical trainer but I’m not going to get my knickers in a twist over not getting a job which is ultimately a part-time position. I’d still be on the phones, doing what I’ve been doing since the year dot and a quarter.

You know what I love about February? Autumn leaves. It’s not technically Autumn yet but as I was walking past the Banana Alley Vaults in town, I couldn’t help but kick the piles of leaves that I encoutered. I felt like a kid again for a few brief minutes before a snooty looking businessman told me off for disturbing the pile of leaves. Bah!

It’s going to be a busy month of social shenanigans ahead!  You’ll more than likely be seeing me do my ditsy quiet inconspicuous type thang at:

  • Melbourne Twestival – Thursday February 12 at Horse Bazaar*
  • Black Friday work do - Friday February 13 at some place where the booze is free and the scenery is cheerful
  • Propagandhi - Saturday February 21 at the Corner Hotel

It’s a new month and obviously time to retire the old theme that was used. Time for something new and shiny with thanks to varometro. Very cool Wordpress theme indeed.
