			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Phone menus. They&#8217;re annoying little critters. Press a number to do this, hit the hash key to do something else, drop the f or c bomb when asked which department you&#8217;d like to be connected to by the automated voice menu service. Oh what fun!</p>
<p>I never had a huge problem with phone menus until today when I needed to call a cab. I was greeted with a robotic voice welcoming me to 13CABS and asking me to enter my phone number followed by the hash key. Ok, now this is where the ol&#8217; levels of annoyance kicked in.</p>
<p>Why should <span style="text-decoration: underline;">I</span> provide some random automated phone system <span style="text-decoration: underline;">my</span> mobile phone number? Do I have some sort of guarantee or reassurance from 13CABS that my mobile number will not be distributed to marketing companies?</p>
<p>Of course not! 13CABS just want your phone number or else you can&#8217;t ruddy well speak to a phonedrone to book a taxi. People have had to put up with their horrendous Eminem-esque jingle and now this!</p>
<p>Where does that leave people who are disabled/from a non English speaking background/elderly and cannot navigate the new 13CABS phone menu? The 13CABS IVR Phone system doesn&#8217;t give you adequate time to punch in your phone number.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m all for improving Melbourne&#8217;s taxi services but this new phone booking system is an absolute farce. Bring back the old phone system <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">without</span></strong> the stupid robotic voice and the need to punch in one&#8217;s phone number.</p>
